The Texas Notary Public Professional Training Academy – Why?
The Texas Notary Public Professional Training Academy was created to fill the training void among Texas Notaries. While there is no mandatory training required to become a Texas Notary Public, the lack of training requirements does not erase the need for all Texas Notaries to know what they are doing. According to the Texas Secretary of State’s office:
A Notary Public is personally liable for negligence or fraud in the performance of the duties of the office. The bond is to insure that the person injured can recover at least $10,000.00, but this does not protect the Notary Public from personal liability for the full extent of damages caused by a breach of official duty. In addition to civil liability, Notaries Public may be subject to criminal prosecution and the revocation or suspension of their notary public commission by the Secretary of State’s office.
The academy was also created to address the need for Texas state-specific training for Texas Notaries. Numerous training opportunities exist for Notaries, but few provide Texas state-specific training.
All training provided by the Texas Notary Public Professional Training Academy is state-specific, meaning all our training materials follow Texas Notary Public state guidelines and laws established by the Texas Secretary of State’s office.
Texas Notary Public Training Academy is designed to educate current Texas Notaries Public, and those interested in the laws, rules and regulations governing the Texas Notary Public.
